Estimator

 

To prepare accurate and timely proposals and related bid documents. Reviews contractual documents and contract modifications to determine the scope of work and scope changes. Accumulates evaluates, and documents historical cost data and construction procedures and methods in order to maintain current estimating standards and databases. Participates in client meetings and presentations as required.

Contributes to the Team effort for success.

 

Requirements

  • Able to work in an office environment in order to produce the required paperwork and maintain required files on an electronic data system

  • Able to operate all required software to deliver the desired reports in an accurate and timely manner

  • Able to accept and use clear and concise directions in order to complete work assignments

  • Able to complete all required daily, weekly and monthly paperwork in a timely and effective manner with little or no corrections from the Chief Estimator and General Manager

  • Able to read, analyze and interpret complex documents that are required in order to complete the scheduled workload

  • Able to respond positively to any inquires and/or complaints from the Chief Estimator, General Manager, Project Managers, Clients, and Owner.

  • Able to make decisions based on all available facts, situations and other resources, such as their Chief Estimator, Project Manager, and General Manager that result in the resolution of the problems at hand

  • Able to reason out any situation that prohibits the effective completion of the Estimating Group’s workflow in the absence of the General Manager

  • Able to successfully manage a variety of activities simultaneously

  • Able to complete jobs from start to finish

  • Able to anticipate problems on the job before they happen in order to avoid wasted time and materials

  • Able to make decisions that resolve the problem without attacking the person

  • Able to maintain confidentiality and be above reproach with regards to all Quality First Woodworks, Inc financial matters

 

 Reporting Relationships

  • Estimator reports to the Chief Estimator 

  

  Responsibilities

  • Complete all daily, weekly and monthly tasks

  • Ensure all required paperwork and conditions are met and followed as designed

  • Ensure the data entered is accurate and if there are questions concerning their accuracy, resolve the issues found

  • Communicate only essential information required outside of the office and maintain complete confidentiality on all Quality First Woodworks, Inc. data


Duties

  • Maintain a current list of invitations to bid

  • Correspond with General Contractor’s estimating teams

  • Print drawings and blueprints

  • Review the drawings and specifications for the proposed estimate

  • Develop a clearly written proposal by way of completing the “take-off”

  • Accurately price the “take-off” accordingly. Ensure its accuracy

  • Present estimate/bid to General Manager for review to ensure completeness, marketing opportunities, competition, and contractor relations

  • Participate in estimate and bid review with Management

  • Follow up with the client to determine the status of the bid

  • Maintain files of previously estimated jobs

  • Maintain previously bid blueprints and storage area

 

  Performance Measurements

  • Quality of finished jobs meet or exceed standards

  • Deadlines are met or exceeded

  • All  estimates created are within profit guidelines
